HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE IDEA TO INFUSE SPIRITS WITH MUSHROOMS??

Joe and Wendy Rizzo met in New York City in1995 when Wendy was about to go off to law school. They met at a farmers market where Joe worked for his family's New Jersey farm. Eventually they got married and had 2 kids. Wendy moved on from law to work in higher education and Joe became a science teacher. Yada yada yada, in 2008 they moved to Ithaca, NY to start a mushroom farm, as one does.
Blue Oyster Cultivation began in 2009, before mushrooms were cool. Over the years our name became synonymous with high quality, gourmet mushrooms. But, we thought, why stop there? What else can we do with mushrooms?
Joe, being a science guy, had always thought that it would be interesting to experiment with biofuels, but he never got around to it. And since they had all these mushrooms lying around, why not combine the two? And so Mushroom Spirits Distillery was born.
